Rugby India Leaves for Shanghai Sevens

New Delhi, Sep 2 – After successful stints at Istanbul and England, the Indian rugby team will leave Thursday night for the Shanghai Sevens tournament scheduled Sep 4-5 in Shanghai.

The two-day tournament features the top 12 teams of Asia featuring Japan, Malaysia, Korea and Sri Lanka among other Rugby powerhouses.

The Indian team has had a good run recently and were the runners up in HSBC Asian 5- Nation tournament after routing China 94-0.

Indian captain Nasser Hussain said they will take confidence from the recent wins in the tournament.

‘Rugby Sevens is a very unpredictable game and anything can happen. We will be facing some very tough competition facing teams that are ranked higher than us. With the recent victories we have had at the Istanbul 7′s and the Bee’s 7′s, we have some amazing momentum going into this tournament,’ Hussain said.
