Man Arrested for Raping Three-year-old Girl
Bhubaneswar, March 13 – A 40-year-old man was arrested Saturday in Orissa’s Balsore district for raping a three-year-old Dalit girl, police said.
Laxmikanta Singh, a resident of Mitrapur village in the district allegedly came to the victim’s house Friday when her parents and other family members were out for work and lured the girl on the pretext of feeding her delicacies. He took her to a nearby jungle and raped her, police officer Sujit Pradhan told IANS.
Singh then left the profusely bleeding girl and fled.
The matter came to light after some villagers found the girl and admitted her to the local hospital. ‘She was unconscious while she was admitted in the hospital,’ Pradhan said.
The villagers caught hold of Singh Saturday and handed over him to the police. He had confessed to the crime, Pradhan said.
