Light Rain Expected in Delhi

New Delhi, March 6 – It was a pleasant morning in Delhi Saturday and the weatherman said the city could see thundershowers in the evening.

‘It will be partly cloudy during the day. We are expecting some thunder developments with light rain towards the evening. This could cool down temperatures,’ an official at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.

The minimum temperature recorded Saturday morning was 15.4 degrees Celsius, still around three notches above the average for this time of the year.

‘The maximum is likely to hover around 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum would be around 17 degrees Celsius,’ the official added.

In the past week, Delhi has experienced warm sunny days. Temperatures have remained above average and some people have already turned on their air conditioners. On Friday, the maximum touched 28.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees above average.

‘March beginning is usually very pleasant. But this time the summer has come in too soon. In the day my car gets very hot and I am forced to switch the AC on,’ said Sheetal Talwar, a marketing executive.
